End Poverty: Hillsborough County Social Good Photo Contest aims to document the remarkable ways that access to services in our community can improve the day-to-day activities that people living in poverty face everyday. Photos must be from Hillsborough County.
Social good is typically defined as an action that provides some sort of benefit to the general public including clean water, health food options, education, and healthcare are all good examples. With new media innovations and the explosion of online communities we have further expanded the reach of opportunities.
In September 2015, the United Nations announced 17 Sustainable Development Goals including poverty reduction, economic growth and jobs, greater food security and agricultural production, women’s economic empowerment, and health protection.
The End Poverty: Hillsborough County Social Good Photo Contest aims to demonstrate ways social inclusion, access to services, and the environments we live in can help people transition out of poverty and lead healthier and financially secure lives. By identifying the barriers to access, innovative ways we are overcoming challenges, and the support that exists in our neighborhoods, we can better understand the needs in our community.
This year, we are looking for photos that touch on the following themes: 1.) My Neighborhood 2.) Access to Food, 3.) Youth, 4.) Health, 5.) People helping People, 6.) Disaster Preparedness, 7.) Safe Spaces, 8.) Transportation, 9.) Programs that Drive Change, 10.) Family
